Hi, I'm David Kaywood. And I'm the founder of Florida Sun & Skin.
I'm a Floridian — born under the same sun that inspired this brand. And like a lot of good things, Florida Sun & Skin started at home.
A few years ago, my family made a big shift. We started paying closer attention to what we were putting in our bodies — cleaning up our diet, choosing whole foods, cutting out the stuff we couldn't pronounce. But it took us a while to realize we'd overlooked something just as important: what we were putting on our bodies.
Once we started reading labels on soaps, lotions, and lip balms, we didn't love what we found. Synthetic fragrances. Chemical preservatives. Ingredients we wouldn't feed our kids — yet we were rubbing them into their skin every single day.
So we did what any stubborn family would do. We started making our own.
It began with soap. Then lip balms. Then face balms. We made them in our kitchen, gave them to friends, and waited to see what happened. What happened was this: people kept coming back. Then they started asking to buy. And just like that, a business was born.
What started in our kitchen now ships nationwide — but the heart behind it hasn't changed one bit.
We're still based right here in Jacksonville, Florida, and we still handcraft every product in small batches. Our current lineup includes our Tallow Face Balm, Tallow Lip Balm, and Tallow Soap — all built on 100% grass-fed beef tallow, one of the most skin-compatible moisturizers that exists. Its fatty acid profile closely mirrors what your skin already produces, and it's rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K. People have used it for centuries. It works. You'll never find synthetic fragrances, parabens, or unpronounceable chemicals in our products. If we wouldn't put it on our own kids, it doesn't make the cut.
What goes out matters, too.
